TICKETS & ENTRY
TERMS & CONDITIONS
-
These Terms and Conditions apply to use of the Hootenanny Festival website, ticket purchases through our official ticketing service and attendance at the Hootenanny Festival (Festival). By using the website, buying, holding, transferring or using a ticket, you agree to these Terms.
Hootenanny, we, us and our mean Hootenanny Festival Ltd, company number SC901933, correspondence address 130 Leith Walk, Edinburgh EH6 5DT, and our staff, representatives, contractors, venue partners and authorised service providers. You can contact us at moo@hootenannyfest.com.
We may introduce reasonable conditions or restrictions before or during the Festival where necessary for safety, security, licensing, legal, venue or operational reasons. You must follow the reasonable instructions of Festival, venue, security, medical and emergency-services staff.
We may update these Terms by publishing an amended version on the Festival website. The version in force when you use the website, make a purchase or attend the Festival will apply.
-
Tickets must be purchased through Hootenanny’s official ticketing service. You must provide accurate information and check the ticket type, Festival date and order details before payment.
Your booking is confirmed when you receive electronic order confirmation. Before payment, checkout will show the full amount payable, including mandatory fees that can be calculated in advance.
All tickets are electronic and issued through the official ticketing service. Tickets are issued in the attendee’s name. If you buy more than one ticket, you must transfer each additional ticket to the relevant attendee through the official transfer function. The recipient must claim the ticket and register it in their own name.
-
Tickets are for leisure services provided on a specific date or during a specific period. The 14-day cooling-off right does not apply. Tickets cannot be cancelled or refunded because you change your mind or can no longer attend.
If you can no longer attend, you may transfer your ticket through Hootenanny’s official ticketing service. We do not offer exchanges between ticket types, dates or products unless an exchange option is expressly made available at checkout or through the official ticketing service. Any deadline, availability, price difference and administration fee will be shown before you confirm an exchange.
If the whole Festival is cancelled and is not rescheduled, we will refund the ticket or package price and mandatory booking, transaction and platform fees paid with it. Refunds will normally be made to the original payment method.
If the Festival is postponed or moved to another date, your ticket will remain valid. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you may request a refund of the ticket or package price and mandatory fees. We will publish the deadline and instructions for making that request.
The cancellation, withdrawal, substitution or rescheduling of an individual artist, performer, activity or attraction does not give rise to a refund. This does not affect your statutory rights where a change fundamentally alters the service purchased.
No refund or exchange will be provided if you arrive after the published last-entry time, or leave the Festival and are unable to re-enter, except where required by law.
We are not responsible for travel, accommodation, subsistence or other personal arrangements made in connection with the Festival, except where required by law.
-
Hootenanny is strictly an 18+ festival. You must be at least 18 on the date you attend. No person under 18 will be admitted.
You must bring a valid original passport, photocard driving licence or PASS-hologram proof-of-age card. It must belong to you and correspond with the name on your ticket. Photographs, screenshots and photocopies are not accepted.
We may refuse entry without refund, except where required by law, if you cannot show acceptable identification, cannot demonstrate that you are at least 18, have provided false age information or cannot reasonably demonstrate that the ticket belongs to you.
-
Entry requires a valid electronic ticket for the relevant Festival day or days. Tickets must be produced and scanned through our official access-control system on first entry. Only tickets issued or transferred through Hootenanny’s official ticketing service are valid.
No entry is permitted after 19:00 on either Saturday or Sunday. Please allow sufficient time for travel, queues, security checks and entry.
There is no general re-entry. Once you have entered the Festival, you may not leave and return. A limited exception may be authorised by event staff where appropriate; leaving the Festival does not create a right to return.
Tickets are a personal, revocable licence to attend the Festival. We may cancel a ticket, refuse entry or remove a person where a ticket has been cancelled, refunded, transferred to another person, duplicated, altered, fraudulently obtained, used in breach of these Terms or otherwise invalidated.
Unauthorised resale is not permitted. You must not copy, alter, counterfeit, share or use a ticket to obtain unauthorised access. A screenshot, PDF, barcode or other copy is not a valid ticket transfer and does not create another valid ticket. Tickets obtained or used in breach of these Terms may be void and non-refundable, subject to applicable consumer law.
We are not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or inaccessible tickets where the issue is not caused by us or our official ticketing service. Do not buy tickets from unauthorised sellers or touts. Tickets must not be used for marketing, media, sales promotion, hospitality, travel, accommodation or other packages without our prior written consent.
-
A day ticket is valid only for the date and ticket type stated on it. It does not create a right to attend on another Festival day or to upgrade to another ticket type unless we expressly offer this through the official ticketing service.
Day-ticket holders should allow sufficient time for travel, queues, security checks and entry. No refund will be given for performances or activities missed as a result of late arrival, queues or a failure to meet the entry requirements, except where required by law. The no-re-entry rule and the published 19:00 last-entry time apply equally to day-ticket holders.
-
You must not behave in a way that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, unsafe, unlawful or likely to cause distress, harm or a nuisance to another person. We may refuse entry or remove you without refund, except where required by law, where reasonably necessary for public safety, security, welfare or the enjoyment of others, including for harassment or a breach of these Terms.
Searching is a condition of entry. You may be searched before entry and, where reasonably necessary, elsewhere at the Festival by security staff. Searches may include your person, bags and other possessions. Refusal to cooperate may result in refusal of entry or removal from the Festival.
You must not bring unlawful, dangerous or prohibited items into the Festival. The current prohibited-items list will be published on the Festival website and may be updated for safety, licensing, venue or operational reasons. The published list takes priority.
Prohibited items may include weapons, fireworks, flares, pyrotechnics, illegal drugs or substances, glass, laser equipment, drones, unauthorised professional recording equipment, unauthorised trading or marketing materials, and any item that may reasonably create a safety, security or welfare risk.
We may refuse, confiscate where lawful, or otherwise deal with any item that we reasonably consider to be unlawful, dangerous, capable of being used as a weapon, or likely to cause offence, harm, nuisance or disruption. Items surrendered or confiscated may not be returned.
A person suspected of carrying illegal items or carrying out illegal activity may be refused entry, removed from the Festival and/or reported or handed to the police or other relevant authorities, without refund except where required by law.
Assistance dogs are permitted. No other animals are permitted unless we have given prior written consent. If you need to bring prescribed medication, please bring it in its original labelled container and carry identification that matches the name on the prescription.
No unauthorised trading, marketing, promotional activity, solicitation, collection or distribution of materials is permitted at the Festival. No unauthorised vehicle, drone or similar device may be used on or near the Festival. Personal photography and filming are permitted only for non-commercial use and subject to any restrictions published by us.
-
Smoking and vaping are not permitted in enclosed public spaces or buildings. You must comply with all displayed smoking and vaping restrictions.
Performances may include loud music, pyrotechnics, lasers, smoke, strobe lighting and other special effects. You attend at your own discretion and should take appropriate precautions.
You must not bring, use or ignite any fire, flame, barbecue, stove, lantern, firework or pyrotechnic device unless we have expressly authorised it in writing. You must not burn any material at the Festival.
We may delay, suspend, alter, evacuate, close areas of, or cancel all or part of the Festival where reasonably necessary for safety, security, severe weather, emergency, public-authority, venue or operational reasons.

We use personal information to operate the Festival and website; process bookings, tickets, transfers, refunds and customer support; manage entry, safety and security; communicate requested updates; send marketing where permitted; understand and improve the Festival; comply with legal obligations; and prevent or investigate fraud or misuse.
We rely on contract where processing is necessary to provide a ticket or other service, legal obligation where required, legitimate interests for the safe and effective operation and development of the Festival, and consent where required, including for certain marketing and optional cookies.
We may share personal information with providers supporting the website, ticketing, payments, communications, customer relationship management, event access, point of sale, IT, security, analytics, professional advice, insurance and Festival delivery, and with authorities where required. We take reasonable and proportionate measures to protect personal information and restrict access to people who need it for an authorised purpose.
We generally keep customer, planning and marketing information for up to five years from your last meaningful interaction with Hootenanny. We may keep information for longer where needed for legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, safety, contractual or legal-claims purposes. We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer required.
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information; object at any time to direct marketing; withdraw consent; and receive certain information in a portable format. To exercise a right or raise a concern, email moo@hootenannyfest.com. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Official photography and filming may take place throughout the Festival for safety, security, operational, broadcast and promotional purposes. You may appear incidentally in general crowd footage or photographs. If you do not wish to be deliberately featured in a close-up or staged image, tell a photographer, filming team or member of staff where practical. We will take reasonable steps to respect that request, but cannot guarantee that you will not appear incidentally in crowd or background coverage.
-
We may send requested Festival information and, where permitted by law, marketing about Festival news, ticket information, artists, offers, merchandise, food and beverage, competitions and future Hootenanny events. You can opt out of marketing at any time using the option in the message or by contacting us.
Our website may use necessary cookies and similar technologies to operate securely and remember choices. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before using non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking technologies. You can manage cookie choices through the website controls and your browser settings.
You must not misuse the website, introduce malware, attempt unauthorised access, scrape or mine data, use automated systems to buy tickets, interfere with website functionality, overload the site or repeatedly refresh endpoints to gain an unfair advantage. We may suspend or restrict access where necessary to protect the website, ticketing service or other users.
The website, its content, branding and intellectual property are owned by or licensed to Hootenanny or its licensors. You may use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Third-party links and content are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for them.
